Utilize Time For Finding Happiness Through Self Realization
Aug 29th
Time is one of the energies of God within material existence. It is one of the five subjects emphasized in Bhagavad Gita. There is nothing as precious as time because a moment wasted cannot be brought back with all the wealth in creation. And how we utilize our time will determine the value of our lives.
The Vedic Text Srimad Bhagvatam declares that with every rising and setting of the sun, a person is one day closer to death. Exceptions are those who take pleasure in hearing and chanting the glories of the Lord. They come one day closer to eternal life instead. Another text, Vishnu Puran, explains succinctly that there is no greater tragedy in all of creation than for a human being to waste his/her time in forgetfulness of God. Human life is the rare junction in which we can actually perfect our existence and realize the unlimited treasure of happiness that we are meant to experience in relation to God.
But the illusory energy is very powerful and it distracts us, moment after moment, from the real treasures of the soul. It creates a whole system with so many various intricate networks to distract our attention, to make us think that we can be happy through temporary material enjoyment. Material enjoyment can be compared to a mirage in the desert. What is the nature of mirage? It looks like water. It looks like it will quench our thirst. We walk a long distance. But finally, what we get is a mouthful of hot, dry sand. The thirst becomes worse and we lose time in the process. Similarly when we pursue happiness through material enjoyment, we become more miserable and we also lose precious moments of the human form of life. We have experienced this time and again, is it not? The right course of action, the scriptures say, is to utilize the moments we have for spiritual realization.
You Are in Control – So Be Happy!

It is easy to let the things that happen around us bring us down. A world in turmoil, economy on the brink of disaster, crime all around, no wonder so many people look at life with a negative attitude. But, does looking at everything in a negative light make anything better? No, negativity doesn’t make anything better. It is time to take charge of your life and find the happiness and joy that are all around you.
Yes, there are negative events and issues in the world. But the world is a big place. When you put the negative you see on the evening news in perspective you realize that all they can fit in a thirty minute newscast is the negative stories. Tragedy and sadness cause people to tune in, as strange as that sounds. But negativity sells in the news business. Since their revenue from advertising is related to their share of the viewing market, they just don’t have the time to air happy stories. Happy doesn’t generate income.
But you don’t need to rely on the evening news to find your happiness. You are in control of your life and you can find happiness anywhere you wish. In fact, if you look there is happiness and joy all around you. Take a look at kids playing at the park they don’t have a care in the world. Children experience life the way it was meant to be experienced. They enjoy everything around them whether it is a caterpillar on the sidewalk or a melting ice cream cone. So how can you become like a child and find the joy around you?
First of all you need to think about the things that really bring you happiness and pleasure. Odds are the things that matter most to you in life are not things. It is the people you share your life with, your family and friends. If all the things in the world were gone tomorrow you would be grateful to still have the people that matter to you. Isn’t that right?
Take some time to make happy memories with your family and friends. Spend time together experiencing the joys of life. Don’t talk about the recession or distant wars. Reminisce about old times and fun events you experienced together. Create good times together now so you can look back someday and remember the fun you had together now.
Life doesn’t have to have a negative light. Bring happiness into your life and the lives of those around you by looking on the bright side and finding joy in life itself.
