Sat on a bench opposite my friend Charlotte, feet reclined and beer in hand, Charlotte asks me how are you so relaxed all the time?
Now if you’ve ever had someone ask you why you are the way you are you’ll know it can be quite a strange thing. First you’re a little confused by the question, then you realize you’ve never really thought about why you are the way you are, you just are. Soon you realize you haven’t said anything for too long a time to be suitable for a polite conversation so you start to make up reasons why you are the way you are.
But the reasons aren’t that well thought out, and by the time you realize how self obsessed you now sound explaining your made up reasons, You just want to stop talking but you don’t because your trying to back pedal out of self obsessed and at least seem half decent.
It’s only once you get the time to be on your own and really analyze why that you get to a good explanation, that doesn’t make you seem up yourself. For me the up yourself part was too late, but I did trace back my apparent nonchalance to a phrase i’d heard about a decade before and that appeared to have stuck. Now in the Chinese whispers of my brain the phrase has changed over those ten years and now it is something along the lines of.
Only think about the things you can control. Never worry about the things you can’t.
Now for such a small phrase it is quite a large and life changing concept. I can’t control if someone gives me a job after the interview. I can’t control how what they decide, I can only control how I present myself to them. So I put all my effort into that area and leave it there knowing that I did everything it was in my power to do. I’m not worried if my train runs late. I’m not worried if someone cuts me off in traffic, I’m not worried if my package hasn’t arrived at the precise time they said it would. I’m not worried.
The only thing I was to worry about is being able to look myself in the mirror and honestly say I did everything that is in my power to achieve what I wanted to achieve. Everything else is out of my hands.

No longer are our closets small places to hide items. Many have become extensions of the other rooms we live in. Today, any closet can be outfitted with about any idea the homeowner can dream. Some long for combination dressing room, closet and sitting room and yes, there are closet systems available to help accommodate these individuals. However, most of us are just searching for ways to increase (and sometimes double) the size of our existing storage. Regardless of what you are envisioning in your new closet, you must first take inventory of what you consider necessary and what would be a nice luxury in your new storage room.
If you are looking to add a view from your closet, keep in mind that if you can see out then those on the outside can possibly see in. By placing your window at least three and one half feet above the floor, you will be gaining some privacy from prying eyes. Maybe you would prefer to have a place to sit and possibly watch TV while preparing for your day. The added convenience that a sitting area adds is quickly appreciated when donning your socks and or shoes. Moreover, many homeowners opt for including a mirror in their closet designs. This provides easy access to the necessary last minute evaluation of the outfit you have put together. These ideas are of course based on large scale walk in closets. There are also other options that can accommodate most any size of closet.
A California Closet can provide plans for both large rooms used for storage and smaller reach in type closets. Of course the basics needed to simply hand clothing can be included but as your mind wanders you can also provide a special purse organizer for those that cherish those adorable hand bags, drawers for placing smaller items in or items that are folded as well as shelves to hold luggage and or shoes. Finishing off a closet has become as specialized as finishing most any other room in the home. Many custom designed closets have added color, various wood types, special lighting in addition to marble and granite to complete this high end look. Depending on what you are will to spend, you can create a closet that answers every dream you can conjure up.
