Do You Believe You Are In The Driver’s Seat Of Your Health?
Sep 29th
It is a sad fact – we become less and less active as we get older. Many people avoid any sort of physical ‘work or intentional exercise ‘wherever and whenever possible as if it is something unpleasant. But the combination of living a no proper exercise lifestyle and getting older is not a good strategy for health, wellness and longevity.
There is nothing more vital than physical strength especially to an aging adult. Loss of precious strength along with increased body fat and increased risk of disease was once believed to be totally age-related and we could do nothing about it.
But science has uncovered the real culprit and it is not the passing years that are to blame. It is much simpler than that – it is our inactive and sedentary lifestyles that cause the downward spiral in our health and wellness.
As the years pass by you may notice that tasks and activities of daily living become harder and take longer to do. Joints become stiff and painful and we start to slow down and do less and less. Bit by bit the life force is slowly siphoned from us and most of us do absolutely nothing to slow it down or try and stop it.
Along with a deteriorating body the disease risk increases as all the body’s systems become weaker including the immune system – the body’s armor and defense. The diseases that kill millions each year and are on the increase are not a necessary part of becoming older. Nasty killers like heart disease, cancer and diabetes and dozens of others are linked more to lifestyle factors and have little to do with our age.
If you take action you can modify and improve many of the declining factors that shunt us towards premature and preventable health problems. You can build back strength and lost muscle tissue, increase bone density, improve heart and lung function, lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels, lose excess body fat, increase energy levels and boost mental and emotional health.
One course of action can take care of all of these things – a proper strength training program. Do not be mislead though, no other type of activity or exercise can slow down and hold off the aging process like strength training. Building back lost strength can reduce and eliminate health risks and even control or reverse health problems that already exist before they become more serious.
You could call your strength training program preventative medicine as it helps to keep healthy people well and protected from disease. But this is a prescription that you do not get from a doctor or any medical establishment. It is called self help care and each of us have access to a proper strength training program to give us the physical activity we need to remain healthy and well.
It is so effective just 2-3 sessions each week are needed as a little done properly with a bit of effort put into it goes a long way. Never believe that your quality of life can not improve as you get older because it can and you are in the driver’s seat.
Chakra Balancing And Meditation The Essential Tools
Jul 10th
Hindu teachings tell us that the chakras are the important energy centers which are present in every human being. Our chakras are the places at which energy flows through our body. The proper flow of this energy is vital to maintaining our physical, mental and emotional health. You can’t actually see your chakras, but you can see their physical manifestation; major components of our endocrine systems.
Chakras are responsible for regulating the energy that flow into and from our body. This continuous interplay of energy within our body, the environment and objects we come in contact with ultimately requires that our chakras remain in balance in order to be able to function as best as possible for our benefit.
Each of the seven major chakras have their own corresponding functions related to a particular endocrine gland in our body. They are responsible for every sensation, awareness, feeling, sensory and emotional experience we go through as an individual whether positive or negative.
Any kind of stress, whether mental, physical or emotional can negatively affect the balance of our chakras. We can have a loss of energy, even illness as a result of this imbalance. This is a clear sign if there ever was one that our chakras are out of balance.
To get the most of the harmonious function of our chakras, chakra balance must be maintained. Regular chakra balancing is key to keeping in good health, similar to the way that a machine needs preventative maintenance.
Importance of Chakra Balancing: Many different methods can be used to keep our chakras in proper balance. The goal of those who want to lead a happy, healthy and productive life is to keep their chakras in perfect balance with one another.
This all begins with an understanding that each chakra resonates to a different frequency; these frequencies are naturally occurring and help the chakras to perform their important function of transmitting and receiving energy; also known as prana or chi.
During periods of illnesses, our chakras are still functioning but may be out of synch which can hamper the free flow of energy to further aggravate our physical and/or mental and emotional illness. Other contributory factors to the malfunction of our chakra system are undue stress or the inability to cope, suppressed emotions, unhealthy food intake, and lack of exercise.
Though they may be out of synch and not function at their best from time to time, their balance can be restored.
Tools of Chakra Balancing: The methods which are most commonly employed to restore chakra balance are crystals and gems, light, sound, color and aromatherapy.
Colors: Commonly used colors and their corresponding chakras are red (root chakra), orange (sacral chakra), yellow (solar plexus chakra), green and turquoise (heart chakra), blue (throat chakra), violet (crown chakra) and white for all chakras.
Crystals and Gems: For millennia, laying gens, crystals and stones on the body at the location of the chakras has been used to restore chakra balance., Each chakra corresponds to a different color; so laying a stone of this color on the bodily area which corresponds to it can help to reach the proper balance, which in turn helps the body to heal.
The light reflected by these stones can also help by getting this light into the body (and your chakras).
Light: Light therapy employs light not only on the eyes, but also on the reflex points and the meridian points of acupuncture to restore chakra balance. The broad spectrum of light is very beneficial here, including both visible and invisible frequencies, including those corresponding to the chakras.
Aromatherapy: Aromatherapy uses essential oils, scented massage oils and scented bath soaps to assist in the restoration of chakra balance and to help the physical body heal. Aromatherapy can also relieve depression and stress, provide relaxation and aid in meditation.
Sound: Sound therapy utilizes music, tuning forks, quartz, Tibetan singing bowls and other sound creating objects to create a state of well being and to generate frequencies which are resonant with the chakras. Sound has a natural soothing and therapeutic effect due to its direct appeal to the emotions. A beautiful sound can create a state of serenity, while a harsh, discordant on will produce anxiety. Sound can in fact bring about faster healing and a higher state of consciousness.
Chakra balancing up until recently was a quite time consuming process, but recent advances in audio technology such as listening to binaural beat frequencies, subliminal messaging and self-hypnosis meditation recordings have made the process of chakra balancing far easier and quicker for most people.
