Ability to Irritate
Jan 13th
Talent is a natural gift that can be improved and further developed through hard work and constant practice. Everyone has talents of different types and levels. Hence, not all are greatly talented. There are people who only have talent on an average or a mediocre level. There is no problem regarding this fact because it is our reality – it is what it is. However, problems arise when people who have little talent think and act like they have a lot. One may think that this is only a superficial issue but the truth is; it hinders excellence. Instead of focusing on more important things, people nowadays have a tendency to glorify and reward mediocrity. Although one can conveniently blame the mediocre ones for this mess, it is not entirely their fault.
In reality, parents of untalented people have a lot to do with this problem. Parents naturally love their children but if we really love our kids, we should not glorify every move they make especially if we notice mediocrity in it. We should give them constructive criticisms so they’ll improve on their craft. I’m not saying that parents should discourage or be harsh on their children. Criticisms could be suggested and given in a nice way. There’s no wrong in praising the kids on their work and performance but after the applause and praise, a little constructive advice would benefit them not only at that particular moment but for a long time as well.
However, granting that your parents spoiled you with undeserved praises when you were young, you should know better especially if you’re at least 16 years of age. When someone reaches the age of 16, he/she is almost an adult. And this people should be now in touch with reality and able to handle the truth and criticisms. If having a mediocre talent and skill still enable you to earn a living out of it, that’s perfectly okay. But posting it on the net for everyone to see and hoping for admiration from millions of people is totally insane. And to aggravate the situation, there are actually people who will patronize this type of mediocrity and insanity.
We the advancements in technology, we now live in a world where everyone has a stage to showcase anything and hope for his/her 15 minutes to come sooner or later. There’s nothing wrong with having dreams and aspirations as long as we identify our true talents early and work as hard as possible to improve and develop these.
Believe me. A little reality check would not hurt.
4 Easy Steps to Making a Capturing Personality
Nov 28th
Do you know what personality really is? Personality is the combination of all of your positive and negative attributes you have acquired throughout your life. All the music you listen to, books you read, people you hang around, the television you watch and any other outside influences all shape your personality. This is not optional; it is a process just like breathing that happens on its own.
Having a great personality will give you many advantages in your life. People will be more apt to talking to you and listening to what you have to say. When you start to talk, people will be drawn in by your words. You’ll be able to make permanent friends instead of temporary ones with a great personality. People will remember you as a stand up person.
Another great advantage to having a wonderful personality is that you will be able to gain trust with others very quickly. You will attract people of high integrity, who will most likely not lie or try and cheat you out of anything. You will attract better people into your life.
There are four easy steps that you can immediately put in place to start experiencing the results above.
The first easy step is very simple. From now on you are to smile when you meet someone. You don’t have to look goofy with a big cheesy grin. You just need to have a nice, pleasant and friendly smile.
When you speak, you need to speak in an upbeat tone of voice. Talk to everyone that you meet, especially new people as if they were your very best friend. Pretend you had known them when you were a child and had not seen them in a long time. Be enthusiastic about what you say and what you have to say.
This one may be a little difficult for some people. You need to take a course in public speaking immediately. Learning how to talk in front of a group of people will give you priceless benefits throughout your entire life. Zig Ziglar and Dale Carnegie both offered these courses. There are many other people, such as your local Toastmasters club you can even sign up with. It is very inexpensive and you can do it right away.
The fourth thing is to become a more informed person in combination with a wonderful sense of humor. Everyone loves to laugh and enjoys a friendly sense of humor. You may sit down with some good joke books and just read over them. You will start to laugh when you do. The next time you are talking with someone, unconsciously you might make a funny joke.
Start to implement these for items right away and you will see results in your life.
