Sep 29th
Are you sometimes feeling yourself overwhelmed with all that duties and tasks you have to accomplish during your everyday life due to poor time management? If you are also feeling frustrated after a long business day, because you are not able to spend your precious time with family and friends, you should actively change something! I found myself in similar situations and sometimes, even a 24 hour day wasn’t enough to get all my work done, meet with my friends and find some leisure for myself. However, the amount of hours available per day is unfortunately limited to the number of 24. Due to this fact we should consider to think about intelligent ways to manage our time as effectively as possible. Learn the essentials about intelligent time management:
1. Identify activities that are stealing your valuable time!
This step is one of the most important things to consider in order to apply time management effectively. Nevertheless, it is necessary to be absolutely honest so that even activities that have become comfortable habits will be scrutinized. I recommend you to grab yourself a notepad and track down all of these activities within a week or so, inclusively the amount of time you spend for it.
2. Start to eliminate time consumptive actions!
After identifying habits, activities and recreational pursuits that are stealing your time you can begin to eliminate these. In order to ease this part of the time management process you should definitely evaluate the time consumptive actions and concentrate on those that would save a lot of time when eliminated. I am very well aware that the elimination process is not going to be easy, therefore I suggest to reduce the time you spend with time consumptive activities until they are completely eliminated.
3. Schedule your business day!
The method of time management that I’m going to describe in the following is a simple, yet very effective time management tactic. It only necessitates five to ten minutes spend on evaluating the upcoming tasks of the business day. You can classify your tasks into “Top”, “Middle” and “Low” priority. The most important point of this technique is that it allows you to focus on top-priority task during your personal peak energy times. This helps to avoid slips of the pan due to concentration problems and gets your most important tasks done in a fast and effective way. Once you finished your entire top-priority task you can focus on the second category and so on.
4. Apply power sessions to get your work done!
A power session is a defined amount of time you take to focus on a specific task. Make sure not to be interrupted during such a power session, neither by email, telephone nor by the internet. The importance of such a session will drastically increase if you are able to only focus on your task, while not being distracted by any means. This will enable you to get more work done faster than before. You can feel free to choose the duration of such a power session from 30 minutes up to one and a half hour.
5. Schedule your leisure time!
I know this might sound odd, you might even ask yourself: “Why should I schedule my leisure time?”. The very fact of this is that it helps to save time. Once you have a defined schedule for the recreational pursuits you will notice that you no longer lose time by exaggerating specific activities like watching television.
Time management has got a very important effect on being able to achieve the goals you have set yourself, yet it requires honesty, discipline and the willingness to make priorities. It will be often necessary to choose between pleasurable and time consumptive activities and your tasks. It is the choice between wasting time and managing time intelligent in order to spend this time with your family, friends and for yourself.
9 Tips on How to Create and Manage Your Time
Sep 25th
In order to effectively manage your time, you need to create time for things that matter; you also need to know what those things are and what you stand to gain by investing your time on them. Knowing these things is a function of what or how your values, goals or activities will look like. Find out how you can create and manage your time effectively using the tips discussed in this article.
-Tell Yourself the Truth
Most people will want to achieve 100% of everything they planned in a day. Before you go planning for the day, try to keep it straight by telling yourself the truth about how limited your time may be. Accept the fact that you are only a human, and not a machine that can work for a long time when programmed to do so. Accepting the truth means that you will have some major activities you will favour with your time, while some will be carried over to the next day.
-Prioritize Your Daily Activities
Make a list of what you will be doing for the day in the early morning hours and rate them in the order of their importance, add more stars to the items that are worth spending more time on.
-Create Room for Adjustment
Save more time by creating room for adjustment on your daily to do-list. This will help you to add an important appointment or event that was not scheduled but needs attention.
-Schedule Less
Try to reduce the number of activities you plan in a day. When you schedule to achieve so much in a day, you will end up achieving nothing; because you will tend to rush things in order to beat your deadline. But scheduling less or spotting the key activities will keep you balanced and focused with minimum rush.
-Set Up a Time Watch Dog
Keep yourself in the loop by discovering the areas of your life activities that consumes most of your time. Watch these activities and decide for yourself which one to improve on or eliminate. Eliminate any activity that takes your time and leave you with little or no result.
-Use the Passer-By Time
Read books that you would have read at home while traveling. When you do this, you save that particular time for other activities and by so doing make your time more productive for you.
-Refresh Yourself When Due
If you work in a place where you are given only 30 minutes for refreshment, be sure not to trade it for another time; that time is the best for you; use it to relax your nerves by refreshing yourself. Returning to work with a refreshed mind and relaxed body puts you in a position of becoming more efficient and productive, in other words saves you time to plan your work.
-Avoid Giving Time to Time Wasters
Find out the kind of people you give most of your time. Take time to find out what their plans are like especially when they are with you. Are they time wasters or time savers? If the former is your answer, then consider withdrawing your time from such people.
-Be professionally Minded
Learn to work professionally. Do not have special time to do things, work as if you are given a target to meet. Learn to do a thing when an opportunity presents itself; do not wait for a certain time to come. Always keep the pace!
