Happiness – Tips For Having a Happy Life
Sep 10th
It’s difficult to pinpoint what makes a person happy. Happiness is what most people are striving for in life and this article offers some tips on how to find it.
For many happiness seems fleeting, it’s here one moment and gone the next. The new car, the dream job or the perfect lover, often they satisfy for a while but so often the longing comes back for something more. So how can we find the happiness that gives us long term fulfilment?
1)Comparing – Stop comparing yourself to others. There are always going to be others who have more than you, be better than you or have something that you don’t. Enjoy what you can and try to be grateful for what you have. It can be difficult at times but it is an effective way to curb unhappiness. Comparing yourself to others will bring stress, frustration and contempt.
2)Positive – Look on the bright side and see the glass half full. It sounds like a clich? but the happiest people usually see the upside of everything. See difficulties as challenges rather than failures.
3)Health – Take care of yourself, eat well and exercise regularly. If you’re unfit and overweight it will lower your self esteem. Having a good self esteem will bring you happiness.
4)Count your blessings – Live each day knowing that it could be worse. Appreciate friends and family and make the most of them.
5)Generosity – Be generous with your time. Spending time with people is a great way to spread happiness. Give as much as you can, making others happy will reinforce your own happiness.
6)Help others – There are many people who need help, be it friends, family, co workers or complete strangers. Helping others enriches our lives and is very satisfying.
I hope you find these tips useful and they help you to find happiness in your life.
Obstacles Are Just in the Way!
Sep 8th
Do you have those days where one thing goes wrong, and the next thing you know, everything else seem to go wrong throughout the day? Your car breaks down on the way to work. Your then late for work. You paid X amount of dollars to repair and tow your vehicle; and while at work, everyone has a question or problem that requires your attention. The list then goes on and on and seem to follow you. Whatever your obstacles are you must immediately recognize what you are feeling. If you are angry, frustrated, irritated, or feel any negative emotions, I can certainly guarantee that more of what causes you to have those emotions will appear.
Breathe! It will be okay if you decide it. You have the choice and ability to end that cycle that overwhelms you. Accept that things do happen for a reason and be thankful you are able to read this article or anything for that matter. Obstacles are there to strengthen us. It takes a form of different situations to help us produce patience, understanding, and mainly to gain wisdom. I know that in the moment, it can be challenging to put on that positive hat and roll up that happy sleeve. It’s part of our human nature to be frustrated in the moment but we have a choice if we want to dwell upon it or accept it and move forward.
To let you in on a little secret, the above events are exactly what happened to me today. Earlier, I turned to my co-worker and said, “When it rains it pours”. Guess what? It continued to pour! I will be the first to admit that I had a moment of dwelling and realized how much energy it sucked out of me. I was being tested. Tested to see how I will deal with these situations. Tested to overcome these obstacles. Tested on my ability to strengthen!
Until I recognized that my constant state of frustration was inviting more circumstances to arise, I began to take deep breaths and say to myself, “I will move forward and rise above this”! When we affirm statements, it too will take the form that’s equivalent. Good or bad! Obstacles do arrive in life no matter who you are, how old you are, or what you have. It is part of our growing process as human beings. It enables us to make better decisions in life if we learn from it. Obstacles are made to be conquered. It forces us to exercise our innate ability to apply the strength we have inside. Tap into that strength by being thankful for what you do have and the lessons that will guide you to wisdom.
