Fill Up Your Free Time With Creative Things To Do
Dec 12th
You might spend your free time in decorating or fixing your house. Sometimes you may clean the garage, or do some plumbing. At other times, you might want to decorate your home with House of Troy lights, or you would simply work with electric fixtures, and fix some piano lights on your piano. However, you might realize that you want a little more out of your free time.
Filling up your free time with creative tasks is a great idea. Apart from getting rid of the clutter from your wardrobe or cleaning your room, there is a lot you can do. You must realize that you are fortunate enough to find some free time, many people might not be as lucky as you! Therefore, you must do things that are worth the lucky time you have.
Finding time when you have absolutely nothing to do is one great opportunity to spend time with your own self. It is a good idea to meditate. If you are in a constant habit of stressing yourself out due to different things happening in your life, this is a great retreat.
Just sit in a relaxed manner, keep your spine straight, close your eyes and think about something or someone dear to you. Keep taking deep breaths, at least 10 of them. Remove any negative thoughts in your mind. Keep sitting like this for 20 minutes or so, and you will feel relaxed after you are done.
Another idea is to do some exercises or yoga. A small walk will be ideal. You might also find a companion to share this walk with.
One good way to fill up your free time is to do some crafty stuff. If you are too much interested in arts, then you are really going to enjoy this. Painting is something that everyone likes to do. You can paint some pots for your house, or you can even paint walls of your house. Play with different colors, and come up with a bright and fresh idea each time.
If you have a pet living with you, you can give your free time to it. Spend time in grooming or playing with it. Take your pet out for a walk or some playtime outdoors. Not only the pet will love it, but you are going to enjoy it too.
Books are great free-time-fillers. Instead of watching TV, fetch a book and start reading. Joining a book club will also be a great idea. You will be able to find books on every topic that might be of your interest. Moreover, you can also fetch some magazines to kill the boring time. This is what most people might do.
Free time is also a golden opportunity to improve any skill that you have. Whether it is cooking, photography, pottery, writing or just anything, fill up your free time polishing this skill. Find out your best skill, and try to improve it when you have nothing to do.
It might not be easy to find some free time from your busy routine. However, if you do, put it to the best use and have fun!
The Importance of Self-Expression – Teaching Your Kids to Be Themselves
Oct 2nd
Do your kids struggle to express what they feel? Do they have a tendency to hide their emotions? Do you have a difficult time knowing if they’re coping with something or not? Do you wish they were more forthcoming with their emotions?
If you answered any of these questions in the affirmative, believe me, you’re not alone. Many parents struggle to get to know their adolescents only to discover that they hide so much from them. Adolescence is a strange and confusing time for kids. And our culture and media is no help whatsoever.
But more than that, our kids can struggle to make and keep valuable friendships as well when they are tight-lipped about how they feel. So, as parents, it is important for us to try and help them in the best way possible. Here are a few tips that you could try to help your adolescents to be themselves.
1. Always allow your adolescents to say what’s on their mind by inviting them to express how they feel about different things. This will invite them to be themselves when they’re around you.
2. When your daughter or son is angry, don’t stop him or her from expressing how (s)he feels. Let them scream his or her frustrations, if (s)he has to. This is very important to his or her emotional self-development.
3. Don’t be afraid of raw emotions. If your adolescent is goofy, don’t put it down or undermine how (s)he is feeling. Instead, accept those emotions and even be encouraging.
4. Create an environment of love and encouragement for your adolescent. Never put your son or daughter down for expressing his or her real feelings. Instead, lovingly listen to what (s)he has to say with your whole heart.
5. Always have times to talk to your adolescent about his or her true feelings. Turn off the television, and listen to your adolescent without interruptions. This will help your teen to gain the confidence (s)he needs to mature emotionally.
So, allow your adolescents to express themselves when they are around you. Try to encourage that they not always criticize themselves for feeling a certain way. Instead, encourage them to be themselves as much as possible.
