Fill Up Your Free Time With Creative Things To Do
Dec 12th
You might spend your free time in decorating or fixing your house. Sometimes you may clean the garage, or do some plumbing. At other times, you might want to decorate your home with House of Troy lights, or you would simply work with electric fixtures, and fix some piano lights on your piano. However, you might realize that you want a little more out of your free time.
Filling up your free time with creative tasks is a great idea. Apart from getting rid of the clutter from your wardrobe or cleaning your room, there is a lot you can do. You must realize that you are fortunate enough to find some free time, many people might not be as lucky as you! Therefore, you must do things that are worth the lucky time you have.
Finding time when you have absolutely nothing to do is one great opportunity to spend time with your own self. It is a good idea to meditate. If you are in a constant habit of stressing yourself out due to different things happening in your life, this is a great retreat.
Just sit in a relaxed manner, keep your spine straight, close your eyes and think about something or someone dear to you. Keep taking deep breaths, at least 10 of them. Remove any negative thoughts in your mind. Keep sitting like this for 20 minutes or so, and you will feel relaxed after you are done.
Another idea is to do some exercises or yoga. A small walk will be ideal. You might also find a companion to share this walk with.
One good way to fill up your free time is to do some crafty stuff. If you are too much interested in arts, then you are really going to enjoy this. Painting is something that everyone likes to do. You can paint some pots for your house, or you can even paint walls of your house. Play with different colors, and come up with a bright and fresh idea each time.
If you have a pet living with you, you can give your free time to it. Spend time in grooming or playing with it. Take your pet out for a walk or some playtime outdoors. Not only the pet will love it, but you are going to enjoy it too.
Books are great free-time-fillers. Instead of watching TV, fetch a book and start reading. Joining a book club will also be a great idea. You will be able to find books on every topic that might be of your interest. Moreover, you can also fetch some magazines to kill the boring time. This is what most people might do.
Free time is also a golden opportunity to improve any skill that you have. Whether it is cooking, photography, pottery, writing or just anything, fill up your free time polishing this skill. Find out your best skill, and try to improve it when you have nothing to do.
It might not be easy to find some free time from your busy routine. However, if you do, put it to the best use and have fun!
Can Hypnosis Increase Your IQ?
Sep 29th
I have worked with many students in the past, to develop better study habits, to teach them how to retrieve the information that was in their mind once they had learned it and to relax before an exam so they did their best.
A relaxed mind performs better on exams and tests because the brain receives more oxygen.
I was privileged enough to be a part of CBC Televisions Test The Nation IQ in January 2010. I worked with 22 people, performing group hypnosis with them, to help them score higher on their IQ tests.
As it turns out, a relaxed mind does perform better on tests as more than 1/3rd of the test group achieved a higher IQ score of up to 10 points. This was only after one forty minute hypnosis session.
I worked with the group (or groups) helping them to relax and wind, but also to believe in their ability to perform well and to be able to access all knowledge that was available to them.
Group hypnosis is less effective than one on one. But the results show clearly that hypnosis can help individuals perform better on exams and tests.
Here are a few tips that you can use when taking an exam or test that will help you achieve your best!
-Do a quick review of your material 30 minutes before you go to sleep. The mind continues to process information that you have placed into your mind 30 minutes before bed. This will help to solidify the knowledge in your subconscious.
-Meditate daily to keep your mind calm and focused.
-When taking a test or exam, before reading the answer, take a few deep breaths. This will allow your mind to relax and receive more oxygen making it easier to remember the answers.
-Be calm and relaxed if you don’t know an answer. Move on to the next question and come back to it later.
-Believe that you will do will. Having faith in yourself can motivate you to do your best! What you believe you can achieve.
-If you know you have a test coming up, make sure you study as far in advance as possible. It takes time to learn. Cramming for tests usually leads to undesired results.
Practising these tips can improve your mental performance.
I have recorded a hypnosis mp3 program called Improving Your Mental Performance. It is based on the script and techniques I used on Test The Nation IQ. You can sample it and download it at the link below.
