The Laws of Attraction and Magic: Does It Really Work?

The Law of Attraction is a simple, yet powerful, tool. The Law of Attraction states that in order to achieve your desire, you simply need to think about it, focus on it, behave as though you already have it, and be open to receiving it.
These four simple steps, it is believed, can allow you to achieve and receive everything you have ever desired. Some people believe that this theory works because the energy in the cosmos is always moving; others believe it to be magic.
In all actuality, long before the Law of Attraction became known in the movie The Secret, people were achieving their desires in a very similar way, only they were calling it “magic.”
1) Understanding the Law of Attraction
The Laws are simple enough to understand. They state that, in order to achieve what you want, you need to figure out what you desire and why you desire it. The next step is to focus on your desire. You need to think about it and center your thoughts on it so the cosmos knows exactly what it is you want.
Next, behave as though you were already granted your desire. If you want love, you need to act as though you are in love. If you want fame, you need to act as though you are famous. The last step is to be open to the world, so that you can see the opportunities that the cosmos will present to you.
2) Understanding “Magic”
Those that have practiced and studied magic know that the most powerful form of magic is a wish. Another simple spell involves burning a candle, one with a specific color to represent your desires, and a piece of paper.
The practitioner writes down on the paper what they desire. They then burn the paper to ashes, allowing the smoke to soar into the heavens so that the universe can know what it is they truly want. Does this sound a bit like the Law of Attraction? It is very similar. Both the Laws and magic believe that you can only achieve what you desire by letting the cosmos know what it is.
3) Attitude
The Law of Attraction forbids a bad attitude throughout the process. Everyone has a bad day now and again, but getting angry, distraught, or frustrated for long periods of time will not help your quest.
The Laws state that you can not be open to achieving your desire if you are not happy and content with what you already have. If you put a lot of negativity out into the world, the Laws state that the negativity will come back to you instead of your desire.
4) Law of 3
Once again, magic and the Law of Attraction have something in common! The first creed that any magic practitioner agrees upon is the law of 3. This simple law state that whatever you put into the universe will come back to you times three.
So if you put a lot of negativity into the world, that negativity will multiply three times and return to haunt you. It is the main reason why those that practice magic strive to “harm ye none.” They do not want to be harmed themselves.
5) Does It Work?
Some people swear by the Law of Attraction. Some people swear by magic. But does it work for everyone? That is a tricky question. If you do not put yourself out there and open yourself to the experience, you will achieve nothing. If you hold back what you desire or do not focus on it enough, you will also probably achieve nothing! Neither the Law of Attraction nor magic are meant to be used as a crutch. They are meant to be used as a tool to allow you to achieve your desire. Only by letting your wishes be known to the universe, or your desire known to the cosmos, will you be able to have exactly what you want.
So how do you start? Very simply: by figuring out what it is you truly desire. Sit down and figure out what you need and why you need it. If it is money you’re after, do you want just enough to pay the mortgage, or enough to pay off the house? If you desire love, do you want it to be for a lifetime, or for a night?
Figuring out what you want is the first hurdle to jump. After that, you can decide for yourself which you would prefer. As for myself? I figure that either way is great, but both together is even better.
Harmony – Who You Truly Are

Are you allowing yourself to stay in a situation or relationship(s) that are less than life-giving? Are you in a relationship that drains you? Is your workplace compatible with your integrity – a place where you can contribute at your best? Is someone in your life more of a burden than a joy? When you are in a situation or relationship(s) that are less than life-giving, you are forcing yourself to walk through life up hill.
Liking and feeling good about oneself arises from being in harmony with who you truly are. When you practice bringing yourself into greater harmony with the law of who you truly are, you increase your self-confidence and exponentially feel more of who you truly are.
You can transform your circumstance through non-resistance by having a clear vision of where you want to go. The tiny stream of life knows in some part of its nature that it is being drawn to a larger stream – and then – into the great powers of the universe. There is a constant magnetic pull towards the greater, and that same pull is at work in you.
The Universal Laws are interrelated and founded on the understanding that everything in the universe is energy, including humans. And because this energy mass moves in a circular fashion, everything that goes around comes around. Since everything in the universe is comprised of energy and humans are intimately connected with this energy mass, all thoughts, feelings, words and actions are energy. What you think feel, say and do in each moment comes back to you to create your reality.
Your beliefs, knowledge and feelings are based on your thoughts, conscious, unconscious and subconscious. You are in control, whether you believe it or not. You thoughts are positive or negative, enthusiastic or dull, passive or active.
The major difference between those whose life is in harmony and those whose life is in the dull drums is their attitude. For some, learning and changing is enjoyable and exciting. For others learning and changing is frightening or drudgery. Which one are you? Remember, you can change your attitude in a moment. It is up to you, you are in control.
Abraham Lincoln said, “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
