How to Motivate Yourself Using Audio

The mind is stimulated by the senses and information taken through the ears is especially powerful. Instead of capturing visual imagery we are going to use aural imagery to motivate ourselves and stimulate our subconscious.
This technique is explained in the classic personal development book ‘Think and Grow Rich’. It explains how to use affirmations (things you say out loud over and over to yourself with the intention of communicating with your subconscious) as one of the methods to literally think yourself rich (if you have not read it, you really should).
1. Take your list of goals to write down some affirmations.
These are more effective if done in the present tense and with feeling. So for my example of the earning $100k this year goal I may write down the following:
I am overjoyed that I have $100,000 in bankI am smiling to myself as I drive my silver porsche 911 with brown leather interiorI feel very relaxed because I only work 20 hours a weekI feel the sun on my skin now I am holidaying at the star hotel in the Bahamas (remember the more specific the better)
This also works great for other goals e.g.
I am 11 stoneI am running a mile under 6 minutes I am spending 3 hours a day having quality time with my kids
2. Download and install Audacity and hook up a microphone. Record yourself speaking each of the affirmations in a calm relaxed voice with a slight pause at the end of each. Create separate sound files for each and put them on a CD or MP3 player.
3. To take this further you could even find related sounds on the internet eg sounds of waves or fast cars or kids laughing. Get creative with your audio files! You can always add more recordings into the mix as you think of them later.
4. Listen to the recordings as often as you can, especially when you are relaxing or going to sleep. Put it on random and let your mind be taken away by the sounds and visualise your goals some more.
By doing the recording yourself you are benefiting from using your own voice which gives you much more ownership. And rather than using an off the peg hypnosis CD you are tailoring it exactly to your own requirements and goals. It has the following benefits:
Keeps the goal in the forefront of your mindReinforces the goal by repetition, making it strongerInvokes the emotions you enjoyed whilst visualisingPushes the goal/image into the subconscious giving it even more powerMotivates you to work to achieve your goal
Remember, what you desire will become real, this technique helps you to strengthen your desire by making it real and belief that you will achieve it.
